Teachers and Students Collaborating in Google Drive

One of the most exciting aspects of my job as an administrator is working with teachers to improve their instruction. My principal and I were working with a teacher today, who self admittedly is not a big technology user, on utilizing Google Drive in her classroom.  She was having students write their essays and share with classmates as well as herself.  Students were critiquing papers and offering comments to classmates on ways to improve their paper.  This teacher was excited about how the use of technology enhanced her lesson and the overall writing process. She reflected with Mr. Aleshire and myself how great the lesson was utilizing Google Drive and her exact quote about her students was “they were enthusiastically engaged in learning and in the collaborative process”.  Google Drive is a great platform for teachers to work with and a very easy platform to show teachers how to use.  One of the best aspects of today’s lesson was watching students work with and help the teacher through some questions she still had about Google Drive; teachers and students working and learning from each other was wonderful to watch.  Teachers can longer be the sole proprietors of knowledge when it is so readily available to every student who has access to technology.  I am excited how well this lesson went and I look forward to working with another teacher this Friday on utilizing Google Drive in her classroom.
